Mycobacterium ulcerans PCR


General
  Clinical Use: Adjunctive diagnostic testing for Mycobacterium ulcerans, the cause of Buruli ulcers, also known as Bairnsdale ulcers.
Biopsy tissue is preferred, and should be submitted for microscopy and culture as well. A dry swab of the undermined edge of an ulcer may be tested if tissue is not available.
  Availability: Testing is performed Monday to Friday, with results usually available within 2 days of receipt by the testing laboratory.
