Fractional Excretion of Magnesium


General
  Clinical Use: In patients with hypomagnesaemia and normal renal function, the fractional excretion of magnesium, measured on a random spot urine sample, can be useful in distinguishing between renal and gastrointestinal losses of magnesium.
  Availability: Samples are tested routinely during the testing laboratory's hours of operation.
