Clinical Use:
|
C3 nephritic factor is an autoantibody that protects the alternative pathway C3 convertase from breakdown by Factor I. C3 nephritic factor therefore increases the half-life of the convertase, causing low levels of C3.
Associated with type II mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis and partial lipodystrophy.
Test is only performed if complement C3 has previously been assayed and is low. |
