Clinical Use:
|
Glucagon is a polypeptide hormone secreted by the islet alpha-cells in the pancreas; it stimulats the production of glucose in the liver and the oxidation of fatty acids. Glucagon secretion is stimulated by low levels of plasma glucose, with resultant increases in blood glucose concentration. |
