Test Entry - Detail

Red Cell Antigen Genotyping

General
Clinical Use: These PCR assays are available for Duffy, Kell and Kidd blood groups and are used to determine the red cell antigen genotype in cases where the serological result (phenotype) is inconclusive; eg either recent transfusion or autoimmune haemolytic anaemia. Please note, there may be cases of phenotype/genotype discrepancies (altered protein expression) which could affect which antibody is predicted to be produced.
  Availability: As required.
Aliases/Synonyms: Duffy Red Cell Molecular Genotyping,   Kell Red Cell Molecular Genotyping,   Kidd Red Cell Molecular Genotyping,
  Code: HMOL
Handling Instructions (to laboratory): Send sample ambient.
