Increased levels of PAI-1 have been reported in thrombosis, cancers, liver disease, post-operative period and septic shock. Additionally, there exists a relationship between the PAI-1 and some risk factors for atherosclerosis such as obesity, hyperinsulinaemia, hypertriglyceridaemia.
