Anti-IgA Antibody


General
  Clinical Use: Patients who are IgA deficient, may produce Anti-IgA antibodies. The presence of Anti-IgA antibodies in a patient, especially class specific antibodies, may result in allergic or anaphylactic reactions when transfused with blood products containing plasma.
  Availability: Samples are referred to Lifeblood Queensland Monday-Thursday.

  Collection Instructions: Samples should be collected Monday-Thursday only.

  Processing Instructions: All samples collected by PathWest must be forwarded to Transfusion Medicine, Fiona Stanley Hospital, who will then forward them to Australia Red Cross Lifeblood (QLD) for testing.
Please return any samples from external laboratories and request that they be sent directly to Australian Red Cross Lifeblood (QLD) for testing.
