Do not collect sample on ice.
DO NOT REFRIGERATE SAMPLE as this will falsely increase Renin concentration.
If erect/supine collection requested: Erect=Standing for 30 minutes; Supine = Lying down for 30 minutes.
Please specify on the request form which collection is performed (Supine or Erect).
If dexamethasone suppression test requested and dexamethasone dose already taken, collect sample for dexamethasone suppression test first and schedule the aldosterone/renin ratio in 1 week.
If sample will not reach the processing laboratory from the point of collection within 4 hours of collection, it must be centrifuged, separated and frozen. |
