Protein S


General
  Clinical Use: Protein S is a vitamin K dependent protein that functions as a natural inhibitor of coagulation. Decreased levels are a risk factor for thrombosis.
Protein S levels are affected by oral anticoagulants. Testing should be done at least 2 weeks post-cessation of warfarin therapy.
  Availability: Samples are batched and tested once a week.
