Test Entry - Detail

Beryllium (24hr Urine)

General
Clinical Use: Beryllium is highly toxic with very low occupational exposure limit.
It is used extensively in the aerospace industry and exposure may also be an industrial hazard in metal extraction plants, refineries or nuclear plants.
Toxicity from exposure is latent; symptoms develop from inhalation or contact of Be salts or metal dust. Acute toxicity may cause eye, skin and respiratory tract irritation and may cause pulmonary oedema.
Chronic inhalation will lead to berylliosis and can take years to develop.
