Platelet Aggregation Studies


General
  Clinical Use: Measurement of the aggregation responses of platelets is widely used in the investigation of haemorrhagic and thrombotic states.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.
This test should only be requested by a Haematologist.
  Aliases/Synonyms: RIPA,   Ristocetin Induced Platelet Aggregation,

  Handling Instructions (to laboratory): Send sample ambient.
Do not send samples via PTS.
Samples to be marked in a separate esky/red bag marked URGENT.
Sample must reach testing laboratory (QEII/FSH) within 3 hours of collection.

Collagen (1.0ug/ml)
Adrenaline (7umol/L)
ADP (1.0 - 4.0umol/L)
Ristocetin (1.2g/L)
Arachidonic acid (1mmol/L)


Collection Requirements
  Container: Sodium Citrate-3.2% x 5 (BLUE),  
  Sample Type: See container
  Minimum Collection Volume: 13.5mL
  Collection Instructions: Phone the QEII/FSH coagulation laboratory prior to collection.
Sample must reach testing laboratory (QEII/FSH) before 3pm on day of collection.

  Minimum Assay Volume: 13.5mL
  Stability: 4 hours ambient
