Test Entry - Detail

t(9;22) BCRABL Quantitative Real-Time PCR

General
Clinical Use: The real time quantitative PCR assay for the t(9;22) major breakpoints (B3A2, B2A2) allows the measurement of a patient's level of disease by calculating the number of copies of t(9;22) (ie BCRABL fusion gene transcripts). Patient BCR-ABL IS% is most informative when considered serially, observing the change in level of disease over time.
  Availability: Samples are tested Monday-Friday.
Aliases/Synonyms: BCR-ABL,   BCRABL Major Quantitative PCR,   BCRABL Minor Quantitative PCR,   Molecular Haematology PCR BCQ,   Quantitative BCRABL,
Code: HBCQN (Use this code for ALL BCR Requests)
Handling Instructions (to laboratory): Send sample ambient.
Sample must reach laboratory within 48 hours of collection.

  Reference Interval:
Results are reported as a normalised ratio of the number of copies of BCR-ABL divided by the number of copies of the control gene (ABL) detected in a standard volume of blood, expressed as a percentage. Contact the laboratory for additional information.
